Confetti – It’s Not Just for a Party Anymore!

Abstract

First paragraph: Many of our students think that math is some kind of a secret, that there is only one way to get the answer and you have to know the “trick” to get that one possible answer. Unfortunately many math teachers encourage these thoughts by providing a limited number of kinds of problems and possible solutions. Students aren’t challenged or encouraged to be creative and think outside the box to use any possible strategy to solve a problem. We have to break that cycle by giving our students problems that challenge their problem solving skills.
