Polygon and Plane Figures Terminology Activity

Abstract


First paragraph: Included among NCTM’s five process standards of the Principals and Standards for School Mathematics is Communication. One goal of this standard is to “. . . use the language of mathematics to express mathematical ideas precisely” (NCTM, 2000, p. 60). In the middles grades increased attention should be given to mathematical terms and definitions (NCTM, 2000). The following classroom activities may be used to provide opportunity to study and learn terms about polynomials and plane figures.
