Order of Operations: Connecting to Real Life and Algebra

Abstract


To be able to calculate consciously and correctly, students must not only know the order of operations, but also be aware of why exactly such order is in use. The order of operations that helps to interpret mathematical expressions such as 2 + 3x5, is not exactly a convention as it has been widely suggested and taught.
