An Activity to Increase Understanding of Exponential Functions

Abstract


Standard one in NCTM's Professional Standards for Teaching Mathematics (1991) states that teachers should "pose worthwhile mathematical tasks that engage students' intellect, develop students' mathematical understandings and skills and promote communication about mathematics". We have developed an activity based on NCTM's Standards to help students understand some of the basic concepts regarding exponential functions.
